Out Against Abuse Heads to India!

by Sabrin

Dear Out Against Abuse Friends and Supporters,

As I am in the midst of packing and running last minute errands before I leave for India, I am eternally grateful to all of you for your support and strong belief in Out Against Abuse for the past five years.  I never could have imagined that I’d get the opportunity to travel to India to conduct research on gender violence and build upon Out Against Abuse’s Gender Violence Curriculum.

My research trip to India consists of the following three goals:

1.  To learn more about existing gender curriculum and curricular innovation in India and use this knowledge to enhance   the programs offered by Out Against Abuse

2.  To help organize the Harvard Gender Violence Project’s “Gender Justice, Criminal Law and Curricular Reforms” conference to be held on July 12th and 13th at the India International Center, New Delhi

3.  To identify and meet with NGOs and social enterprises who are working in women’s empowerment issues and who can provide great learning experiences for future Harvard student interns

I hope to document some of my experiences and meetings periodically through our blog and look forward to reading your comments and feedback.  I welcome any insight and advice on traveling and meeting with specific organization in Mumbai and Delhi and can be reached at schowdhury@outagainstabuse.org.

Look forward to returning with some great insights and propelling Out Against Abuse forward!

Sabrin
